Service Overview
Vessel Manager’s Assessment

We conduct independent onboard inspections on behalf of vessel managers when direct attendance is not possible, assessing vessel condition, operational readiness, and key concerns while protecting the client’s interests with professional care and sound technical judgement.
Vessel managers routinely attend vessels under their management to verify the actual onboard condition, assess operational standards, review maintenance performance, and identify any issues requiring managerial attention. These visits may be planned as part of routine fleet monitoring or arranged for specific operational, technical, commercial, or compliance-related requirements.
When a vessel is calling at a remote or difficult-to-access port, or when urgent attendance by the vessel manager is not practical, Docford Marine Consultants can act as the client’s trusted representative onboard. We conduct a professional and objective vessel manager’s assessment, focusing on the overall condition of the vessel, machinery spaces, deck areas, operational readiness, crew preparedness, safety standards, maintenance practices, and any client-specific areas of concern.
Our role is to provide the vessel manager with a clear, factual, and technically informed assessment of the vessel’s condition. We act with extreme care to protect the client’s interests while operating strictly within legal, ethical, and contractual boundaries. Through DFVMA, Docford helps vessel managers maintain confidence, visibility, and control over their vessels even when they cannot personally attend onboard.
