Many vessels are now fitted with additional systems such as ballast water treatment plants, exhaust gas cleaning systems, hull air lubrication compressors, and other retrofit equipment to meet regulatory or operational requirements. These installations often increase onboard electrical demand and may place additional pressure on the vessel’s existing power generation, distribution, and power management arrangements.
Although a class-approved electrical load analysis may already be available, actual operating conditions can vary significantly depending on machinery configuration, operational mode, redundancy requirements, and simultaneous equipment use.
